Called John and we tried to troubleshoot the problem over the phone and we still couldn't get it to open. John came to our home a few hours later, we put in the combination and he got it open right away (I'm not sure what I was doing). He also took the inside of the door apart and checked the entire mechanism for good working order. John took the time to instruct me on how to properly unlock my safe. Today when I went to open the safe using the combination I had on file, it would not open despite numerous attempts. I looked up "Safes and locks San Diego" and "Johns Lock and Safe Service" was among the choices. I called John who answered promptly even though it was obvious that he was serving customers at his place of business. He gave me specific instructions for "warming up" the dial and specific instructions for how to proceed with opening the safe. He stayed on the line with me as I went through the procedures. I was leaving for an international trip and couldn't get into my safe to get my passport. I called several people and couldn't get a hold of anyone since it was after-hours. John was the only one to call me back and said he could definitely fix it but thought he could walk me through repairing it over the phone. After a bit of time, we were able to identify the problem and get it resolved, at no charge. Another guy had told me the only way to get in was to cut the safe open for $160.
